THE Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu, has decorated 30 senior officers who were recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police and Commissioner of Police (CP), charging them to lead by example, reminding them of a policy of zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption or dereliction of duty within their respective commands.
Force spokesman, Anthony Placid, said in a statement that the decoration ceremony followed the promotion of 84 senior officers, including 54 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), with the IGP insisting that the promotion were recognition of merit, discipline and proven capacity.
Placid quoted Disu as saying it was also a strategic investment in leadership to provide the national demand for more effective, accountable and responsive Police, adding: “The IGP said that respect for human rights and active community engagement is non-negotiable, while emphasising the need for people-oriented policing.
“Furthermore, the IGP announced that all newly promoted AIGs will proceed on a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat from Tuesday, March 24.
“The retreat, organised in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is designed to deepen transformational leadership standards and modern policing ethics among the Force’s senior leadership.
“The newly decorated AIGs include Christopher Ado Emmanuel; Joseph Eribo; Miller Gajere Dantawaye; Henry Ifeanyi Uche; Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo; Mohammed Dahiru; Dankombo Faling Morris; Bello Shehu; Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba; Ahmed Musa; Olohundare Moshood Jimoh; Simeon Udofia Akpanudom; and Haruna Olufemi.
“Also decorated at the event were CPs Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu, Sarah Idowu Ehindero, and Rebbecca Uchenna Okereke, among other newly elevated.”
In a related development, the IGP has ordered amajor redeployment of AIGs and other senior officers as part of efforts to strengthen operations, enhance leadership capacity and improve service delivery nationwide, and in line with the Force’s commitment to an effective command structure and the strategic deployment of personnel across Commands, Formations, and Departments.
Placid said Emmanuel was deployed to Research and Planning at the Force Headquarters, Abuja; Eribo, Department of Armament; Dantawaye, Department of Operations; Henry Ifeanyi Uche, Training and Development; Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Police Affairs Branch; Dahiru Mohammed, Zone 15, Maiduguri; Dankombo F. Morris, Zone 4, Makurdi; and Bello Shehu, Zone 14, Katsina.
Others were Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Legal Services; Ahmed Musa, Community Policing; Olohundare Moshood Jimoh; Zone 2, Lagos; Simeon U. Akpanudom, FCID Annex, Lagos; and Haruna Olufemi, Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.
CPs Haruna Alaba Yahaya was posted to Jigawa State Command; Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola, Oyo State Command; Olubode Ojajuni, Ogun State Command; Michael Adegoroye Falade, Ekiti State Command; Yakubu Useni Dankaro, Adamawa State Command; Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command; Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai, Lagos State Command; Morkwap S. Dongshal, Taraba; Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Zamfara; Umar Ali Fagge, Katsina; and Hayatu Shaffa Hassan, Sokoto Commands.

The IGP charged the officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new roles and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and service in the discharge of their duties.
