Yesufu: I Begged Kwankwaso To Be Obi’s Running Mate Four Years Ago

Published:

ACTIVIST and member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has disclosed that she personally appealed to former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to become the running mate of Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, four years ago.

Yesufu, who revealled this in a post on her X account on Wednesday, June 24, while expressing excitement over the emerging political alliance between Obi and Kwankwaso ahead of next year’s general elections, said though the alliance may have taken longer than expected, but it is better late than never.

Reminiscing on her efforts to bring both politicians together, Yesufu said she had strongly rooted for Kwankwaso to join Obi on a joint ticket years ago, adding: “Some things in life take longer than they should. Like the saying goes, better late than never.

“Four years ago, I literally begged Kwankwaso to be Obi’s running mate.”

She dismissed suggestions that she could be distracted by political criticism or opposition, insisting she remains fully committed to supporting both leaders, adding: “Now that it is happening, you think I am going to be distracted? No way. Let’s get it done.”
