Tantita Acquires Surveillance Drones From American Firm To Enhance Operations

Published:

TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited, a private security firm contracted by the Federal Government to protect critical oil and gas infrastructure in the Niger Delta region, has signed an agreement with a United States (US) defence technology company, Textron Systems, for the supply advanced surveillance drones to enhance its operations.
Under the agreement, Textron is to supply three Aerosonde Mk 4.7 Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) drones to Tantita, which is owned by Niger Delta ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.
Aerosonde Mk 4.7 is a long-endurance tactical drone designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations, and with its VTOL capability, the drone can take off and land in confined areas without a runway, making it suitable for monitoring difficult terrains, such as creeks, swamps and offshore environments, which are common in Tantita’s area of operation.
The drones are capable of operating for extended hours, transmitting real-time imagery and data to ground control stations.
This development is expected to enhance Tantita’s surveillance capacity, particularly in tracking and curbing pipeline vandalism, oil theft and other forms of economic sabotage plaguing Nigeria’s oil-producing region.
