Delta Verification Committee Lists Political Appointees For Screening

THE Verification Committee charged with screening and verifying all political appointees in the state has listed those to appear before it and documents they should provide.
Recall that on Tuesday, January 20, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Kingsley Emu, on announced the approval of a Verification Committee by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to screen political appointees in the state.
According to a statement signed by the committee’s Secretary, Felix Irevwi, the categories of appointees to be screened in the first instance are
Executive Assistants (EAs); Senior Special Assistants (SSAs); Special Assistants (SAs) (incuding SAs/aides to commissioners, Special Advisers, chairmen and members of commissions, boards, parastatals, agencies, as well as aides to other senior political appointees); and political appointees in the House of Assembly (excluding domestic staff).
The committee stated that the screening schedule contained in the earlier announcement by the SSG on the exercise remain unchanged.
Appointees are requested to come along to screening venue at the Press Centre (behind the New Government House Chapel) in Asaba between 11am and 3pm on the scheduled dates with original copy of Letter of Appointment, voters’ card and
valid DTSG ID Card.
The statement clarified that appointees in the House of Assembly were not expected to come for their screening on the said scheduled dates, as their date(s) will be communicated to them via the Clerk of the Assembly.
Appointees on Diaspora Matters/Affairs are exempted from the screening.
