Adesola Assumes Office As Delta CP

THE new Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Delta State Command, Aina Adesola, has officially assumed duty in Asaba.
Adesola took over as the 23rd Commissioner of Police from Olufemi Abaniwonda, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and redeployed to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, to head the Operations Department.
Born on September 2, 1968, Adesola, who hails from Abeokuta South Local Council of Ogun State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Ondo State University and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Course 4.
He received professional training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State and was first deployed to Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, in 1996.
He has served in various operational, administrative, investigative and training capacities across several Commands in the country over the years, including as Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Aswani Division, Lagos State, between 2012 and 2015; Officer in Charge of Homicide, Edo State Command; Officer in Charge of X-Squad, Zone 2, Lagos State, in 2016; Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration at the Abia State Police Command from 2018 to 2022 and Commandant of the Police Training School, Oyin Akoko, Ondo State.
He was Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) at the Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Rivers State Command in 2023; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Delta State Command.
Upon promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police last year, he was posted to Lagos State as Deputy Commandant of the Police College, Ikeja, where he served for seven months before his current deployment to Delta State.
Speaking shortly after assuming office, Adesola pledged to build on existing security frameworks in the state and strengthen proactive and intelligence driven policing strategies, even as he urged residents to continue to support the Police and other security agencies and youths to avoid criminal activities.
