Published:

NIGERIAN Afrobeats musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared clips of his recent meeting with French President, Emmanuel Macron.
Davidi, in a post on his official X account on Thursday, October 23, share photos from the meeting, with the caption: “It was an honour meeting #EmmanuelMacron and sharing our visions for a better world.”
Although he did not disclose details of their discussion, it was believed to have dwelt on culture and highlights the growing intersection between Nigeria and France’s cultural diplomacy efforts.
Macron has long shown interest in Africa’s creative and entertainment sectors. The French President, in 2018, visited the Afrika Shrine, home of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, describing it as an iconic centre for the propagation of African culture, strength and music.
According to BusinessDay, Lagos recently hosted some of Africa’s most promising creative talents last week as the Création Africa Forum celebrated innovation across digital fashion, gaming, animation and immersive technologies, an initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and curated by Maison des Mondes Africains.
The Forum aims at promoting cross-continental collaboration and investment in digital innovation.
Macron’s meeting with Davido aims to reinforce his agenda of cultural outreach, particularly as Nigeria’s booming Afrobeats scene gains global attention
