DSS Invades SERAP Abuja Office

Published:

THE Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has alleged the invasion and occupation of its Abuja office by operatives of Department of State Service, which it described as an “unlawful occupation.”

SERAP, in a statement on its X handle, on Monday, September 9, said the operatives demanded to meet with the organisation’s directors, even as it called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and “immediately direct the SSS to end the harassment, intimidation and attack on the rights of Nigerians.”

This came barely 24 hours after the organisation urged Tinubu to leverage his leadership and authority to instruct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to promptly reverse the hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at its retail outlets, and also on a day the DSS arrested the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Joe Ajaero at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, on his way to attend a Labour conference in London, the United Kingdom (UK).
