THE Edo Assembly has refused to clear a former member, Christopher Okaeben, as a commissioner.
Six other commissioner-nominees who appeared before the Assembly- John Akhigbe; Festus Ebea; Elizabeth Ebosele; Jerry Uwangue; Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien and Usenbo Paul Ehigie- were cleared and confirmed, while Okaeben was told to attend to a petition before the Department of State Service (DSS) and appear for screening.
Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, while addressing the emergency plenary, said Okaeben, who represented Oredo West Constituency, had issues to settle with the DSS and the report was submitted by the screening committee.
According to him: “After his appearance with the DSS. They can take him and clear him. That is not a problem at all.”
