THIS year’s Convention of the Jehovah’s Witnesses is being held in 500 languages in 240 countries.
In Nigeria, the Convention is being done in Pidgin English, Yoruba, English and American Sign Language across 48 locations.
Regional spokesperson of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mr. Odeyemi Afolabi, who disclosed this in a statement in Lagos on Friday, September 6, said the 15-week Convention, with the theme, ‘Declare the Good News,’ began on Friday and is taking place at Ota, Ogun State.
He stated that the Convention, billed to also focus on hope amid contemporary challenges, would hold every weekend until December 15, seven times in the English Language, five times in Yoruba, two times in Pidgin English and once in American Sign Language.
Afolabi said that it would take place at almost every weekend, Friday to Sunday, until December 15, adding: “The programme will consist of presentations that will include talks, audio dramas, interviews and short videos.
“The much-anticipated programme is designed to comfort and encourage the public.”
He also said there would be an all-volunteer production portraying Jesus Christ’s life and teachings and, entitled, ‘Jesus Christ Series Episode 1.’
He explained: “The production has an 18-episode comprehensive look at the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, His personality and interactions with people.
“It is released as a special feature of the 2024 Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Subsequent episodes will be released at future conventions.
“Jehovah’s Witnesses are found in over 240 lands and would be holding this Convention in halls and stadiums in these territories.”
