THE Lagos State Government has vowed to prosecute five persons, including a birthday celebrant and an event planner, for allegedly obstructing traffic.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who stated on Monday, October 21, explained that they individuals were arrested on Saturday, October 19, for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during a birthday celebration.
Wahab stated on his X handle: “The Lagos State Government arrested individuals, including the celebrant, event planner, musician and others for obstructing traffic and creating an environmental nuisance.
“The individuals arrested are an event planner, Omolara Ajetumobi; celebrant, Ogundare Olubunmi; musician, Ayodele Busuyi; sound engineer, Owoeye Adedayo and a vendor, Akinola Akinkunmi.
“The suspects were arrested for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during a birthday celebration. They will be tried in court in accordance with the laws of the state.”
He stressed that no one was above the law and the state government would not permit any disregard of its regulations, recalling that government had in past arrested several individuals for various environmental violations, including shutting clubs and lounges for noise pollution.
