NDC Stresses Civil Political Engagement, Disowns Viral Statement

Published:

THE Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disowned a controversial publication online publication calling on opposition politicians to join it to “run the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) out of the country,” saying its political philosophy, inspired by its National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, is rooted in civility, discipline and issue-based engagement, rather than hostility or incitement.
NDC, in a statement by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Abdulmumin Ohiare Abdulsalam, insisted the said directive did not emanate from its national leadership, but from an “enthusiastic supporter.”
The party, while acknowledging the passion of its supporters, cautioned against inflammatory rhetoric, noting that any statement advocating attacks on individuals or suggesting that opponents be forced out of the country is unauthorised and does not reflect its position.
NDC charged members and supporters to rely solely on its verified official communication channels for accurate information and to disregard statements from unofficial sources, urging the media to exercise due diligence by verifying statements attributed to it before publication.
The party reitareated that its values remained anchored on constructive dialogue, democratic principles and national unity.
