NOLLYWOOD actor, Yemi Solade, has claimed that no actress in the industry can afford a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon solely from acting income.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Solade insisted the financial returns from acting are insufficient to fund such luxury purchases, stressing that while acting provides fame and visibility, the pay per role is nowhere near enough to afford high-end cars.
He stated that actresses who own such expensive vehicles likely have other sources of income, such as side hustles, production ventures or even gifts from admirers, adding: “Nobody makes a lot of money that will give you all of those luxurious cars you have mentioned.
“I do not know how they make so much money to buy these cars. I know what I earn. In the industry, no actress will say that the G-Wagon that she has was bought from the proceeds she got from acting.
“It’s possible from producing, but from acting, how much do they want to pay you, N50million?
“They may have a side hustle, I don’t know those hustles. Not all cars are self-purchased.
“Then again, some are gifts, I want to believe so. Yes, now, dem fit gift person G-Wagon.”
Solade, in over three decades in the industry, has featured in several Yoruba and English-language films and is known for his outspoken nature and deep understanding of the industry.
