Peter Okoye Blames Fans For P-Square Split

Published:

NIGERIAN musician, Peter Okoye, of the defunct P-Square fame, has blamed fans for the spilt of the family music band, saying constant and unnecessary comparisons between him and brother, Paul, fueled tension and ego issues.
He stressed that fans’ favouritism towards one brother over the other created divisions, ultimately leading to the group’s demise.
Speaking during the AYLIVE show, Peter said: “Fans are the reasons P-Square no dey together today. Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una.”
P-Square, formed in 1997, rose to fame with hits such as, E No Easy, Bizzy Body and Personally.
Known for their energetic performances and catchy Afrobeats, P-Square became one of Africa’s most successful musical acts and in 2017, it officially disbanded after years of internal conflicts and public feuds.
The twins had been managed by their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who also owned significant shares of their company, PClassic Label.
Disputes over management, finances, and creative direction strained their relationship, culminating in fraud and money laudering allegations by Peter against Jude and his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Peter a fortnight ago testified how Jude shortchanged P-Square and diverted its fynds/earnings of over N1billion through a company her registered for that purpose.
