Police Shift Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement To Oct 2

Published:

THE Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has shifted enforcement the tinted glass permit for vehicles from August 12 to October 2.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi (DCP), said the decision follows a surge in applications through the official portal, which he said reflects increased public compliance.
According to him: “The Inspector General of Police has approved a further extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the tinted glass permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows, with the new enforcement date now set for October 2, 2025.
“This decision follows a significant surge in applications via the official portal, reflecting heightened public compliance with the directive.
“In light of this, the Force considers it imperative to allow sufficient time for the meticulous scrutiny of applications to ensure that the permit is issued only to eligible and qualified individuals, in line with national security considerations.”
The Police spokesman hoped that the extension would also enable further fine-tuning of both digital and physical verification processes to preserve the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse, adding: “Members of the public are further encouraged to report all forms of extortion, hidden charges or unauthorised processing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
“The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the cooperation of the Nigerian people and remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all.”
Recall that in April, the Police gave a 30-day period from May 1 for motorists to obtain the permit or regularise existing ones.
The enforcement date was later extended to August 12.
