PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the incoming Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Aina, who will be 40 in July, is to succeed Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose second and final tenure ends on July 31, this year.
The systems engineering expert holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree, majoring in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a doctorate in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, all in United Kingdom (UK).
An alumnus of the Senior Management Programme, Lagos Business School (LBS), Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, did his national service at JAMB, gaining firsthand experience in national admissions processes and data management systems.
Accoro the Presidency, that exposure shaped his longstanding contributions to examination reform and institutional systems optimisation in his over 15 years of professional experience, invoving technology, governance and institutional transformation, advising federal and state governments on digital transition, systems design, and operational reform.
Aina, who became one of the country’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering at the age of 39, would also become the youngest Registrar of JAMB.
A statement from the Presidency said Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would deploy his experience and technical expertise to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his predecessor and further reposition JAMB for greater efficiency and innovation.
