PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment and reappointment of the Board chairpersons and chief executive officers under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said Tinubu “painstakingly considered the wealth of experience of each qualified and aforementioned Nigerian, who will be tasked with driving his Renewed Hope Agenda in the sector.”
Those appointed include a former permanent secretary and later commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Dr. Jide Idris, as Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), with effect from February 19, this year.
Dr. Mansur Kabir is to serve as Chairman of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), while Prof. Moji Adeyeye was reappointed as Director general/Chief Executive Officer.
The President also appointed Prof. Abba Zubairu as Chairperson of the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) and Dr. Saleh Yuguda as Chief Executive Officer.
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has Prof. Afolabi Lesi as Chairperson and Dr. Fatima Kyari as Chief Executive Officer, while Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has Wasilat Giwa as Chairperson and Ibrahim Ahmed as Chief Executive Officer.
The Board of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) will be chaired by Dr. Babajide Salako, with Dr. Tosan Erhabor as Chief Executive Officer.
Moddibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola (MAUTH) has Prof. Adamu G. Bakari as Chief Medical Director/CEO, while Prof. Reuben Eifediyi is the Chief Medical Director/CEO at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua (ISTH).
