Troops Neutralise Three Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Victims In Delta

TROOPS of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Asaba, on Sunday, August 17, eliminated three suspected kidnappers during a fierce gun duel in Otulu community, Aniocha South Local Council of Delta State, rescuing two abducted victims in the process.
A gang of kidnappers had on Friday, August 15,abducted Igiri Samuel, a staff of Seth Integrated Farms, and Marcy Iteahi, near the Oshimili North Local Council headquarters in Akwukwu-Igbo.
When report of the incident reached the Delta State Government House, the government’s tracking unit immediately swung into action, in collaboration with soldiers from the 63 Brigade, trailing the suspects from Atuma-Iga to Otulu community.
According to sources, the kidnappers, on sighting the soldiers, opened fire, resulting in a heavy gun battle that led to the death of the criminals in the process.
Items recovered from the scene include N2.4million cash, 52 rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 rifle, several mobile phones and other valuables.
One of the victims and a soldier reportedly sustained injuries during the encounter.
