Woman, 21, Stabs Lover To Death In Delta

A MOTHER of two, identified as simply Lilian, 21, has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her partner and father of her children to death during a domestic quarrel with the Delta State capital territory.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe (SP), who confirmed the arrest in a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, September 3, said the suspect had been living with the deceased, a 34-year-old man, for four years, in a relationship that started when she was 17 and has produced two children.
“I just interviewd a 21-year-old woman, who has been cohabiting with a 34-year-old guy for the past four years. She has two children for him. If she’s 21 years now, which means she started living with this guy since she was 17 years.
“She had a fight with him, stabbed the guy in the heart and killed him. Who do you blame? The girl, society or her parents, who couldn’t raise her amd gave her out at 17 without a bride price?
“Her english is so fluent and she stopped schooling at SS2.”
Edafe explained that the suspect confessed to stabbing her partner in the chest after a disagreement turned violent, adding: “She claimed he attempted to end their relationship, which led to a quarrel.
“She said he beat her with a cane and smashed her head on the ground before she rushed to the kitchen to get a knife.
“When he advanced towards her, she stabbed him, despite warning him to stay away.”
The suspect insisted that she acted in self-defence after years of abuse, noting: “I have been living with him for four years now and I have two boys with him. The first child is three years old and the other is two.
“On Monday (September 1), I do not know what triggered him, but we stopped talking. So, I asked him to collect the meter from our neighbour in order to recharge electricity, but he ignored me.
“So, we argued and he started beating me with a cane. So, after he smashed my head on the ground, I rushed to the kitchen to pick up a knife.”
Ostensibly remorseful, Lilian told Edafe: “I am not happy that he is dead.”
