A NEW National Working Committee (NWC) of All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged from the just-concluded 8th national convention held in Abuja, with Nentawe Yilwatda and Ajibola Basiru retaining their positions as National Chairman and Secretary, respectively.
Delegates, through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders, chose Ben Nwoye as Deputy National Chairman (South), replacing Emma Eneukwu, following consultations within the party and in consonance with the party’s zoning considerations.
The NWC was immediately aniagurated by President Bola Tinubu on Friday, March 27, while Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, administered the oath of office on the newly elected members, urging them to always uphold the ideals of the party.
Speaking on behalf of other members, Yilwatda said the choice was a burden of leadership, as against being a crown, assuring that they would always stand firm and united to uphold the tenants of democracy that the APC is noted for.
Yilwatda promised that the ruling party would be more transparent and united to include all shades of opinion, adding that the future of the party is the future of the entire country.
He stated that the 2027 general elections is a task that must be achieved by reaching out to all the people of the country, irrespective of where they are.
Yilwatda said his re-election was a call to greater service and pledged commitment to unity within the ruling party, noting: “We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation.”
