*Urges CJN To Review Supreme Court Practice Directions, Warns Threatens Access To Justice
A GROUP, the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA), has described the N500, 000 electronic filing (e-filing) fee in the new Supreme Court Practice Directions 2026 as exorbitant.
The group urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to immediately remove the provision, which he said is inimical to access to justice.
The group’s Chairperson, Ayo Ademiluyi, and Secretary, Abiodun Kolawole, said at a press conference in Lagos, that introduction of the N500, 000 e-filing fee would constitute a significant financial barrier to litigants seeking justice at Nigeria’s apex court.
They stated: “We argue that it is exorbitant and it would hundreds of months for an average worker to afford the filing fees of the Supreme Court.
“It will constitute an obstruction to access to Justice.
“We argue further that the Internet technology itself is made to make life easier and affordable and not the other way round.”
