*Face Your Music While We Face Our Politics, Faleke Tells Singer

NIGERIAN musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, was in high spirit on Sunday, August 16, as he celebrated the victory of his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in last Saturday’s governorship election.

In a post on his X account to celebrate his uncle’s victory, Davido wrote: “We did it Unc.”

In a video accompanying the post, he was seen lying on the floor, while one of his aides, Israel, hailed him, saying, “congratulations boss.”

Recall that the musician had actively campaigned for his dancing uncle throughout the period, expressed confidence that the governor would emerge victorious.

Earlier before the results were officially announced, a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, had advised Davido to face his music and allow politicians to play their politics.

Faleke was reacting to Davido’s allegation that he was pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the election outcome.

Davido, who is the nephew of the incumbent governor, had urged Faleke to respect the wishes of voters, saying the people had rejected the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and former governor of the state and current Minister of Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.

He wrote on his X handle: “Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO.”

In his reaction, titled, ‘I have never influenced or rigged before,’ Faleke said: “I came to Osun to support my party’s candidate, while you supported your uncle’s party (Accord).”

While rejecting the allegation, the lawmaker stated: “INEC is a body that can’t be influenced by me or anyone else. I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now.

“Face your music while we face our politics.”
