THE Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Aminu Yusuf, is dead.
He died barely eight months after he assumed office and weeks after launching a nationwide digital birth and death registration platform, known as VitalReg, under the Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (E-CRVS) system, which became operational on July 1.
Yusuf, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu and sworn in in December last year, alongside two members of the NPC, Joseph Haruna Kigbu and Tonga Betara Bulatafa, reportedly died on Friday, August 28.
Born on April 15, 1960, in Wushishi, Niger State, Yusuf attended LEA Primary School, Zungeru, and Federal Government College, Odogbolu, Ogun State.
He was assistant director, Grassroots Mobilisation (North Central), in the 2022 Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and was until his appointment, National President of the Niger State College of Education Alumni Association, Minna.
