Make-up Artist Sent To Jail Over Naira Abuse At His Wedding

Published:

MAKE-UP artist, Abdullahi Musa Huseini, popularly known as Amuscap on social media, has been sentenced to six months in jail for abusing the Naira by flinging it while dancing at his wedding celebration in December last year.
Huseini was sent to jail by the Federal High Court in Kano minutes after pleading guilty to the charge of ‘spraying’ of naira notes, contrary to the provision of the law.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been waging a campaign against the practice common at wedding and other celebrations across the country, which it sees as disrespect for the country’s currency.
Huseini is the latest to be imprisoned for violating the 2007 Central Bank of Nigeria Act, which states that “spraying of, dancing or (marching) on the naira” is an offence, with the punishment being no less than six months in prison or a N50,000 fine or both.
The Commission said Huseini, while dancing during the wedding celebration, “tampered” with N100,000 by spraying the notes.
Recall that crossdresser, Olarewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, and actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, spent six months in prison last year following their conviction of the same offence in separate cases.
