Supreme Court Judgment: INEC Reinstates Mark-led NWC Recognition

Published:

FOLLOWING the Supreme Court judgment nullifying the status quo ante bellum order of the Court of Appeal over the African Democratic Party (ADC) leadership tussle, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored its recognition of the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on its website.
As at 10pm on Thursday, April 30, a few hours after the judgment, the electoral body had reinstated the names, thereby removing any obstacle to the Mark-led leadership assuming full control of preparation for next year’s general elections.
e names reinstated on the website include Mark as National Chairman; Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary; Mani Ibrahim Ahmad as Organising Treasurer; Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary; and Oserheimen Osunbor as National Legal Adviser.
Recall that the apex court had in its ruling returned the case to the trial court, while overturning the appellate court’s status quo ante bellum order.
