GRAMMY award-winning artist, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known by his stage name, Burna Boy, has gifted controversial musician, Portable, the sum of N20 million for defeating Darlington Okoye, also known as Speed Darlington, in their celebrity ‘Chaos In The Ring’ match on April 18, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.
The Zazoo Zeh croner knocked out Darlington, who sustained a shoulder injury and had to be assisted into an ambulance after the fight, in the second of the scheduled four-round bout.
Burna Boy and Darlington have not been best of friends, as the former had earlier instigated the arrest and detention of the former by the Police on cyberbullying allegation and he accused him of having an inappropriate connection with disgraced American rapper, Diddy, in order to secure his Grammy award.
Portable, while confirming receipt of the N20 million gift from Burna Boy in a post on of his Instagram account, said: “N20million from Burna Boy. If you wanna be like Odogwu, can you do like Odogwu. God bless your family.”
However, has insisted thatPortable does not deserve the gift, accusing him of using juju during the match, even as he called for rematch, saying he needed the money to build a swimming pool for the people in his village in Imo State.
He stated: “Portable, I want a rematch. E dey pain me say you dey carry all that money dey go. E dey break my heart. I want a rematch.
“It’s so unfair. You have up to two experience before me and you fight. I never enter ring before. I did not come from poverty.
“You don’t deserve that money. E dey pain me. I want to build swimming pool for my villagers. I need a rematch, Portable.”
While saying he needed at least 30 days to prepare better, Darlington restated his claim that Portable used voodoo to secure an easy win, adding that he his shoulder became dislocated during the match despite not experiencing fatigue.
Tensions escalated between the two musicians after Darlington offered Portable ₦500,000 to perform at an event, an offer Portable reportedly found insulting.
The match followed previous events by the organisers, including a December 2024 bout in which Portable defeated Nollywood actor, Chuks Okocha, and the launch of ‘Friday Fight Night’ in February this year.
