DESPITE rising insecurity across the country, the National Economic Council (NEC), for the second time in as many weeks, skipped deliberations on the establishment of State Police, as the controversial topic was not even on the agenda during its 152nd meeting on Thursday, September 18, in Abuja.
The matter had earlier been scheduled for discussion at the previous sitting, but was stepped down and was not even up for mention at the meeting, despite President Bola Tinubu expressing his commitment to the establishment of State Police, which he described as “inevitable” amid rising insecurity in the country, due to banditry, terrorism and other violent crimes.
