THE Defence Counsel of the convicted suspects in the Owo church attack, Abdullahi Mohammad, has expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling, vowing to challenge it at a higher court.
The Federal High Court in Abuja had on Wednesday, June 3, sentenced four accused members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group to death by hanging for their involvement in the June 5, 2022, attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, while discharging and acquitting the fifth defendant for inability of the prosecution to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Justice Emeka Nwite, had in his judgment, found the four defendants guilty of participating in the attack that led to loss of live and injuries.
However, Mohammed said: “We are appealing it. You brought three people on the same count, then you removed one and left others, where is it done?
“If you want to carry them along, you carry them and if you want to release them, then release them together.
“We are not satisfied with this result.”
